40-221 ETK-1003 – TILT MOTOR HEAD END PLATE – OMC / Evinrude / Johnson

$20.00

In stock

The 40-221 tilt plate is a head end plate for the electric tilt and trim motor used on many OMC, Johnson, and Evinrude outboard and stern drive trim systems. This plate mounts at the head of the tilt motor housing. It helps align the motor shaft and seals the motor end from moisture and contaminants. This part often appears as OEM Prestolite 40-221 ETK-1003 on marine parts listings.

Tilt and trim motors raise or lower the engine to adjust boat running angle and trim. The 40-221 tilt plate supports the electric motor assembly and provides a flat surface for mounting screws. It also helps keep the internal rotor centered. Without correct support, the motor may bind or wear unevenly.

Application & Compatibility

This tilt motor head end plate fits many older OMC-based tilt systems. It works with electric tilt motors found in outboards and sterndrives that use trim and tilt for boat performance. You may find it on systems that also use trim motors, relays, and pressure switches in the tilt electrical group on Evinrude and Johnson parts lists.

Why This Part Matters

If this plate becomes bent, worn, or damaged, the tilt motor shaft can shift. That often leads to rough or noisy tilt operation. Loose alignment may cause the motor to bind or overheat. Replacing the end plate with the correct 40-221 tilt plate restores proper alignment and smooth tilt motion.

This item is new old stock. It may show slight shelf wear. However, it installs and performs like new. Always inspect the full tilt assembly when you service it. Replace worn brushes, seals, and gaskets at the same time for best results.
